A Path Less Travelled
Choose safe. Choose sustainable.
A Path Less Travelled is a consulting firm focusing on Active Transportation Planning and Safe System applications to roadway infrastructure. We are Edmonton-based and our client base ranges from local to international.
Our name alludes to Robert Frost’s famous poem “The Road Not Taken”. Mr. Frost’s poem shows that we are confronted with and defined by the choices we make. Similarly, both for Active Transportation Planning and for Safe System applications we are confronted by and defined by the infrastructure choices we make.
At A Path Less Travelled we want to help our clients make these infrastructure choices transparently by using sound technical analysis. This helps our clients create safer and more environmentally sustainable transportation systems.
Our name differs from Mr. Frost’s poem to reflect our philosophy. We chose “Path” in our name instead of “Road”, as “Path” focuses on human instead of vehicles. And we chose “Less Travelled” instead of “Not Taken” to recognize those municipalities choosing safe and sustainable transportation.
Today in our climate emergency we know our choices are more important than ever. We also know our roads are the most hazardous transportation system ever created. This constitututes a safety emergency which further accentuates our important choices.
We arrived at these climate and safety emergencies by using our existing transportation practises. We can choose to continue on this path, or we can choose another path.
We must choose safe.
We must choose sustainable.
We must choose A Path Less Travelled.
